Thanks to Kota!
Besides all people who are cheering Kota, I have to thank Kota, the patient, himself.
Since the diagnosis, he has gone through all exams and surgeries. He was always calm. Except when he had severe headache after the surgery, he neither have cried hard nor lost himself, at least in front of me. Although he is by nature a shy boy anyway, he sometimes gets mad and laughs a lot. So I was a little nervous about the possibility of his being panicked on any chance when the diagnosis was finalized and surgery was scheduled. However, seems like my fear was groundless.
Kota often asked one question upon exams. What made him nervous was if there would be an iv. The needle stick was not a big deal, but he hated the smell around the back of nose after an injection whatever it was. But he endured by smelling some sweets to deal with the issue. We tried to explain him why those exams and surgery would be necessary. I donft know if he understood them. But basically, who likes exams and hospitalization? Especially for the second surgery, he knew how it would be. He knew that he would have headache and other uncomfortable things. Nevertheless, he was NOT reluctant to have the second surgery, which surprised us. Since it seemed just obvious and natural, we did not even come up with admiring him. Maybe the mind that being eager to play soccer and baseball again made him go that way. Anyway, he was sometimes even calmer than parents. As a reward, he has been recovering very well. The frequency of TIAs became much less than before surgery. Not to mention, it is because of such a good doctor and everybody else. But it is also because Kota did his best. Thank you, Kota!
