About the hospital
Kota stayed in Lucile Packard Childrenfs Hospital (LPCH), which is located in vast Stanford University campus, close to the famous shopping center. It is on the north side of Stanford Hospital connected by a hallway. Basically anybody can enter into Stanford Hospital, however, Childrenfs Hospital has a guard at every entrance, checking visitors. The building has a basement and three floors, not too huge, but the structure is somehow complicated. You could get lost at the beginning. The floors have nice carpets, and each floor has nice terrace and courtyard that provide sunshine. Many nice pictures and paintings are displayed on the walls. Overall, it is bright and clean building.
As I thought when Kota had angiogram, a number of staffs, such as nurse, anesthesiologist and resident doctor, show up before surgery. It is also the case after the surgery, so I could not even remember how many people stopped by. This is in part because the hospital belongs to the university that trains medical staff. An interesting thing I thought in PICU was that there were staffs uniformed and in plain clothes, and both people were working in the same manner.
The hospital looks like below.
